Message from Admin Team
Dear NHE Community,
Last week at NHE was anther fabulous week of learning and excitement! The positive energy and culmination of classroom projects, SBA testing, the final concert of the year, the volunteer recognition breakfast…all wonderful aspects to celebrate. The volunteer breakfast was a great way to acknowledge the many parents who spend time partnering with us in support of students. THANK YOU to Meghan, Melody and Blythe, for helping set this up in the library so we could properly share our gratitude. Also, the wrap up of SBA testing happened this week and it could not have happened as smoothly without our wonderful ITCL, Suzanna – a big thank you to her. And the final concert, led with great precision and commitment from Aaron. What a week!
We are thrilled to announce that Alison Hook has returned to NHE following her maternity leave. We eagerly really excited to be partnering with Alison again in serving our amazing community. With Alison’s return, we said goodbye to Laurie Harvey, who has been an invaluable part of our admin team. We are profoundly grateful to Laurie for all her support and dedication to our community. Words cannot fully express our gratitude for everything she has done for us. Thank you, Laurie, for your unwavering commitment and contributions. We will miss you and wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
Lastly, yesterday we sent an email to our families from our Chief of School Dr. Sanchez about the hiring process for our new principal. If you haven't done so, please take a moment to provide the district with input about the qualities you are looking for in the new NHE's principal by using the link below: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=OUFKmQZ8HkmAmHkAbVdd4LE57jxHmFtHkion667x5ihUNkpSNTlRQUNTTTBLUk41WVZSMVlRSEpMVS4u
Hope you have an amazing week!

Teaching & Learning
Last week we had our K-4 school concert. There are so many skills embedded in having students sing in front of others:
- Poise and presence
- Vocalization (pitch, tone, rhythm, etc.)
- Resonance and projection
- Articulation and voice
- And MUCH MORE
It was very powerful to watch our NHE K – 4th grade students sing with loud and confident voices in front of their parents and peers this week. It is also challenging to move large groups of students seamlessly on and off risers between sets. It was great to see our students so proudly singing as a culmination of this expertise in teaching, thank you Aaron!
Important Reminder and Information
Every day, the expectation is that students are in the classroom, ready to learn at 8:00am. We have noticed an uptick in tardies the last few weeks. Let's finish the school year strong with No Tardies!
Safety First - at Car Drop-Off/Pick-Up
Safety is our priority! During car drop-off/pick-up, please be sure all elementary students and younger children ride in the back seat. Children 4'9" or shorter need to be buckled in booster seats at all times while in a moving vehicle. Washington State Traffic laws apply even in our parking lot!

Korean Bilingual Program
As a staff, we had an optional PD session on Wednesday focused on the Korean bilingual program. The session began in a welcoming atmosphere as we watched delightful videos of our students greeting us in various languages, highlighting the multilingual nature of our school. We also enjoyed a vibrant video from our recent Multicultural Night, providing a vivid snapshot of how our school embraces and honors diverse cultures.
During the reflective discussion on elevating our students' languages and cultures in the classroom, inspiring approaches were shared including using books in different languages and co-teaching language focused mini lessons to emphasize the importance of linguistic diversity. The insightful presentation on the significance of bilingual programs, the gallery walk showing posters that included beautiful photos and heartwarming stories of incoming kindergarteners, and detailed explanations of the program's logistics offered us a wealth of helpful information.
The session concluded with an exciting Korean trivia quiz, where many prizes were won, and Korean snacks were delicious. Overall, it was a highly informative and engaging PD session that left most of us excited and better-prepared for the program.
