Sharing Our Stories

Hear from our learning community who share their thoughts on leading, learning and playing at Newport Heights Elementary School.

David Nguyen and Lili, Parents

Newport Heights Elementary has an incredibly positive impact on both my daughter and my family. Starting from her first day there, she was greeted with smiles by everyone she saw and that continues to this day. Everyone we meet knows her name and makes time out of their busy day to say hello and chat. We love the fact that her teachers have all spent time in class to show the joys of learning but they also focus on how to become a good and strong individual. Additionally, the large diversity of different students at the school reinforces the variety of people she will meet in her life and helps to develop her skills to know how to work with and help anyone regardless of their background.

Mamiko Morishita, Teacher

NHE has been my second home for the past 15 years. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful community, and enjoy getting to know students, families and staff members. We have been working hard to teach valuable life skills to support all students’ independence through our PACIFIC program.

Samriddhi R, Kindergarten Student

Hello, I'm Samriddhi, a new Dolphin at Newport Heights Elementary School. I love drawing, playing and engaging in art projects in my class. A big thank you to Miss McCoy and all the teachers at NHE. Going to school is so much fun for me!

Liam K, 2nd Grade Student

The teachers are fun and nice. They make the math fun! If you need help, they will help you. They get you to recess on time. In 2nd grade we do a parade. We go to the PE room and show our floats to all of kindergarten. We put a string, and the teacher gives us a box and we create something out of the box, like a UFO. Then, you have a little string to pull it. They all looked cool, and some were funny!

Krisha P, 5th Grade Student

Newport Heights is a kind and caring place. They support everybody. If you need help, the counselor is always there to help you. Something special is all the field trips and making memories. My favorite field trip was the Museum of Flight. In the simulation, we had badges and a medical crew and saw how they designed the rover. My favorite subject is science because there are lots of investigations and it’s really interesting.

Lamees, 4th Grade Student

Newport Heights is fun. It's very high tech with a lot of computers and iPads. There are two stories in the building. The teachers make sure that you learn a lot, and if anyone in the class knows and you still don't know, then the teacher explains it to you to make sure you can move on at the same level. The specialists make it really fun. In library we get to check out a lot of books. In art you get to paint however you want and he'll teach you the different colors like analogous colors. In PE he makes sure our health is super good. In music we sing good and practice sitting up straight.

Alisha Singh, 3rd Grade Teacher

I have been lucky to be part of the Newport Heights teaching family since 1999! This is an incredible community with a diverse and dynamic student population. The staff at Newport Heights is dedicated and innovative, and together, we work to ensure that all students feel loved and cared for while still achieving their academic goals.

I am truly grateful to be part of this exceptional school community, to have raised my own son and daughter here, and to help all our Dolphins learn and grow!
